The Museum was the inspiration of his grandfather, Wesley, and was opened
at this site in 1954 having been previously housed at North Walsham.
The tradition of maintaining and housing engines was carried on by
Wesley’s son James, who sadly is no longer with us. James also supervised
the successful Rallies for which Strumpshaw is well known, and the Museum
flourished under his leadership.
We are sure that both Wesley and James would be proud of the way in which
the Museum is evolving and William with his youth and enthusiasm will
guide Strumpshaw Steam Museum into the future.
